Cuisine Air International Ltd is now a registered “Designated Caterer”
How does this affect our clients?
The UK Department of Transport has given selected suppliers, (caterers) legal direction to undertake various security measures. The DFT has implemented security guidelines for in-flight catering supplies and stores to be carried on flights from the UK.
What are the implications to you our customers?
As a supplier we are required to meet the following strict guidelines, prior to meeting you at your aircraft.
- Staff are security vetted and trained to meet the DFT guidelines. Here in the UK that means staff must have at least a “criminal record check”.
- “Nominated security personnel” must have a higher level of security being “counter terrorist checks”.
- Supplies in the premises must meet internal audit procedures set out by the DFT, which ensure that there are no “prohibited” articles supplied.
- All documentation meets the DFT guidelines, showing a clear audit trail of procedures, that supplies have been inspected.
- The vehicles are secured with numbered seals that match the documentation for inspection of security and crews on delivery.
- What do these points mean to us as a supplier?
- Cuisine Air International Ltd is registered as a “Designated Caterer” by the DFT.
- Cuisine Air International Ltd complies with the requirements of the National Aviation Security Programme.
- The nominated person for Cuisine Air International Ltd exercises security responsibilities at the catering outlet.
- Customers have the peace of mind that beyond the usual culinary guidelines met by catering facilities, Cuisine Air International Ltd also meets the strict security measures set out by the DFT.
- Cuisine Air International Ltd has the only representative in this sector (catering) on the committee.
Airports and FBOs are being monitored by the DFT to ensure compliance. Any supplier that does not meet the above regulations may find that items are not allowed through to the aircraft.
Cuisine Air is and always has been about providing a quality service. We work hard to be above the level required to provide a high standard of service. Should you require any further information on this item, please feel free to contact Maithri Samaradivakara (Director) who can elaborate further on the DFT regulations.
